About The Show - Woman Before a Glass

Diane Cilento is to star in the Australian premiere of the one-woman, tour-de-force Woman Before a Glass about the life and times of art icon Peggy Guggenheim.

The play, by award-winning US playwright Lanie Robertson (Nasty Little Secrets, Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill, Stringbrean, Bringing Mother Down), will be directed by award-winning Director Kate Gaul and opens at the Karnak Palyhouse

What I'm trying to preserve here is not just a random group of pictures that can be scattered to the ends of the earth, but a cohesive whole which can only exist here in my palazzo; something quite fragile, ephemeral: a reflection of one woman's dedication to the art of her time.

--- Peggy Guggenheim explaining why her collection must be kept together.

It’s a spectacularly demanding one-woman show set in Venice, as Peggy reminisces on her life, her famous family, her loves… and her art.
